The World Expo, also known as The World’s Fair, which happens every five to six years, is a six-month long exhibition that showcases innovations and developments from countries all around the world. Dubai has won the bid to host the 2020 World Expo, and winning is really the perfect way to promote the country and all that it has to offer. For Dubai, this is exciting news because the World Expo has never been held in the Middle East, North Africa or South-East Asia region. This means tourism will be increased and there will be a boost in the economy for Dubai, due to the millions of people that are attracted to this event. It is expected that 25 million people will be visiting Dubai for the Expo, which is an amazing opportunity for the country.
The theme is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, and its three subthemes are Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity. This will be a great platform for Dubai to build new partnerships for the future. The venue has been chosen, it will be held at the Dubai Trade Centre – Jebel Ali, which is equidistant to the International Airport of Dubai. The centre will be built around the main theme, with three zones dedicated to its three subthemes. After the Expo, the centre will be formed into a university and research centre, used for further research and exploration of the main themes and ideas.
