Magnolia
Magnolia is owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines. It presents personality-driven lifestyle episodes on topics such as home construction, renovation, and cuisine. Chip is the risk-taker who asks questions afterwards; Joanna is the detail-oriented planner who oversees everything from the design of their quarterly Magnolia Journal magazine to the finishing touches on their 100,000-square-foot headquarters in downtown Waco. DIY Network, an HGTV spin-off focused on instructional programming for "do it yourself" (DIY) projects such as home repair, debuted in September 1999. Subsequently, it shifted its focus to reality programming highlighting people working in home improvement and related industries. This focus was maintained when it relaunched as Magnolia Network in 2022, led by Chip and Joanna Gaines of the HGTV show Fixer Upper. During The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 2018, Chip and Joanna Gaines, stars of the HGTV show Fixer Upper, revealed that they were in the early stages of negotiations with Discovery Inc. to create a "lifestyle focused television network" through their own company Magnolia. Gaines states that she is currently taking a step back and considering where she wants to focus her efforts moving forward. She has been thinking about this a lot as her children get older and more independent. “Since 2003, Chip and I have given Magnolia every inch of us, and because it has become so intertwined with who we are, sometimes it’s difficult to make out where Magnolia ends and where we begin,” she wrote in her memoir.
