Ladies of Spain
July 2013
Mackenzie Belcastro
It is hard to find a woman in Madrid without an impeccable sense of style. Their lavish fashion and creative styling has us dripping in envy. In order to keep up with these chic ladies of Spain, it is important to keep up with the country’s notable designers. Maya Hansen and Juanjo Oliva, for instance, seem to encapsulate the essence of the oh-so-chic Spaniard. For her Spring/Summer 2013 show at Madrid Fashion Week, Hansen showcased tight body suits and corseted dresses that came in vibrant colors, patterns, and “Day of the Dead” inspired prints, as seen on Fashion TV. Her collection speaks to the classic, colourful and passionate Spanish woman. Oliva’s collection, on the contrary, included futuristic silhouettes and dark layered clothing, specifically long black evening dresses, some of which were sheer; this collection is for the more sultry Spaniard woman.
