Ole Henriksen’s Banana Bright Face Primer is an illuminating makeup primer that claims to deliver instant brightness, improve and extend makeup wear while blurring imperfections and hydrating the skin. The formula contains Vitamin C, the brand’s gold standard for tackling signs of aging, Vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps nourish the skin, and banana pigments to instantly illuminate. The primer is made without parabens, sulfates and phthalates.  It is sold at Sephora for $50 (CAD) for 30ml and is vegan and cruelty free.

The packaging of the Banana Bright Face Primer is super convenient and travel-friendly. The vibrant orange tube has a pump attachment and is made out of plastic. The perfect amount for the entire face is dispensed in one pump. The primer has a pearlescent shine to it and is the consistency of a heavier moisturizer. It glides onto the skin and gives a radiant glow and a smooth finish. The primer has a fresh fruity scent that instantly takes me back to summer.

After applying the primer, I proceeded with my foundation and the rest of my makeup. The primer did definitely brighten my face and even out my complexion before applying my foundation. I was left with a radiant glow and my face was hydrated throughout the day. My makeup did last longer than without a primer and although this is not a claim of the product, it did reduce the appearance of my pores.

Overall, this product lives up to its claims. The only drawback is the price – but with the primer being a product of a reputable brand that is cruelty-free, and made from responsibly sourced vegan ingredients, it gives you the assurance that the ingredients are high quality. Would I be able to find a more affordable drugstore dupe? Probably. Will it be as high quality, vegan AND cruelty-free? Unlikely. Therefore, I give Ole Henriksen’s Banana Bright Face Primer a well-deserved 4/5.
