Benjamin Moore reveals its 2020 color of the year, First Light, is a soft rosy hue designed as a backdrop for a "bright new decade."

Choosing and sharing its flawless Colour of the Year with the rest of the world is not an easy process for Benjamin Moore with over 3,500 hues in their colour library. This year the leading paint brand take a fresh approach to the definition of colour and its role in the concept of home that will evolve in the forthcoming years. First Light  appealing soft rosy hue makes a surprising departure from Benjamin Moore's last year's choice—a neutral calm gray Metropolitan AF-690.

"We selected First Light 2102-70 as our Colour of the Year 2020 to represent a new dawn of idealism, design and living," said Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore Director of Colour Marketing and Development. "First Light 2102-70 reflects a new definition of the home – a shift in mindset from the material to satisfying the core needs in life: community, comfort, security, self-expression, authenticity and ultimately, optimism."

First Light 2102-70 is also included to the Benjamin Moore Color Trends 2020 palette that features nine other coordinating paint hues that offer a “timeless way to lighten up.” According to the industry leader, the 2020 Palette involves a yearlong observation in design, art, fashion tendencies around the world along with environmental and cultural aspects.

“The Colour Trends 2020 palette plays an integral role in supporting these core human ideals,” said Magno. “Colour is powerful but highly subjective, especially through the lens of different generations, relationships and moods.
