Biggest Celebrity Break-Ups of 2013
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
Another teen movie romance to hit a rocky patch this year was Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. After meeting on set of their 2010 movie The Last Song, the two teens fell in love onscreen and off and were engaged two years later. This past year has sparked some changes in Miley’s life, including a drastic haircut and now infamous VMA performance, which makes their split a little less shocking. Things are looking up for them both as Miley’s album Bangerz hit #1 on the charts and Liam basks in the success of the Hunger Games movies.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
This supernatural duo sparkled onscreen in the Twilight series, but it’s their offscreen love that caught everyone’s eye. Audiences who desperately want the two to date got their wish, although both were intent on keeping their relationship private. That was until photos were leaked in July of 2012 of Kristen cheating with her Snow White and the Hunstman director Rupert Sanders. The couple reconciled after a few short months, only to split again for real in May of 2013. Lucky for the fans that can’t accept the split, the couple has been forever immortalized on film.
George Clooney and Stacy Kiebler
We hate to admit this, but this is one break-up that we may have saw coming. George Clooney, the eternal bachelor (by choice!), has a reputation for brief relationships with gorgeous ladies. Stacy Kiebler was next in line to the Mrs. Clooney throne, yet, was unable to grab the crown. Things were looking up for the pair after 3 years of dating, but ultimately, Kiebler’s desire for marriage and children clashed with Clooney’s bachelor ways.
Liberty Ross and Rupert Sanders
A relationship that seemed to be collateral damage in the Kristen Stewart cheating scandal that rocked the media last year was that of Rupert Sanders and Liberty Ross. Together for 16 years, Liberty felt the couple’s connection was crumbling even before the affair, but was devastated by the indiscretion. She filed for divorce stating “irreconcilable differences” 6 months after the scandal broke.
Kris Jenner and Bruce Jenner
Kris Jenner is notorious for milking the media for any kind of attention for her and her Kardashian brood, therefore, are a little skeptical of this recent celebrity split. Bruce and Kris Jenner have separated and moved into different homes, while postponing their divorce until after their show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, ends in 2015—a ploy to keep fans optimistic about their separation. The upcoming season will reportedly document both the positive and negative impacts of their split; we will have to tune in to find out!

Although the lovely Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom have recently called it quits, both express their continued love and support for each other and their son—the hope for reconciliation remain high for these two!
Taylor Swift and… which guy was it this year? We joke, but her short tryst with Harry Styles did end in early 2013. We’re currently awaiting the next big hit!
It may be better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all—but these celebrity ex-couples are a testament to how much harder love is in the spotlight. Kudos to those who made it through 2013—we’ll be checking in again next year.
