The number of people who are using the internet to shop, compared to that of those who are going into stores to shop, has increased dramatically over the last couple of years. In fact, the amount of money that Canadians spend online yearly has gone up twenty five percent since 2010, and about fifty percent of people say that they have used the internet to order goods. Having a website has become almost essential for retailers. A website that features photos and information of the products they carry is becoming more and more important not only because of the evident orders that will be placed online, but also because many of us are starting to use these sites for window shopping.

In other words, we check the company website to see what products they have, and if we find what it was that we were looking for, we make the time to go to the actual store to make a purchase. Canadians are using the internet to shop for vacationing more than anything else. They are often booking hotels, flights, rental cars etc… However, a great number of us are also making use of it to buy all sorts of things. Online shopping has been taking the fashion industry by storm, and many have voiced concerns on the survival of actual, in person shopping by customers. A website, contrarily to an actual store gives a retailer no space restrictions, so they can show as many items as they wish and it gives them the ability to post and provide consumers with information about the products.

There are countless amounts of online retailers, and some are much more well-known than others. One of the most popular nowadays is Etsy. You can pretty much find anything and everything on this site, from handmade to vintage items to supplies. Secondly, for designer lovers, net-a-porter offers luxury and trendy items by various designers. Third, shop, a Canadian online store that has a variety of products from electronics to hair and beauty to books, to gardening and so much more.

No matter what you are looking for these days, starting your search on the internet is starting to seem like the easier way to browse and to shop. We are not limited to space, time, or product variety, and are attracted to the convenience that it brings us as retailers and as customers.
